Ear aesthetics is a surgical procedure performed to change the shape and size of the ear. It is usually preferred to
correct congenital ear anomalies or to achieve a more aesthetic appearance.
Ear aesthetics is performed through surgery. During the procedure, an incision is made behind the ear to make the desired corrections to the shape of the ear. General or local anesthesia can be applied for the ear aesthetic operation. During the ear aesthetic surgery, the ear cartilage is shaped, reduced or added as necessary. After the ear aesthetic operation, the surgical incision is closed well.
Since ear aesthetics is a surgical procedure performed behind the ear, it can generally be performed on anyone who is
suitable for surgery in terms of health. However, the age limit must be at least 5-6 years old.
People with aesthetic problems related to the shape of the ear, those who do not like the shape of their ears, those
whose one ear looks different from the other, and those who have had damage to the ear due to trauma can have ear
aesthetic surgery. Before ear aesthetic surgery, the person's medical history is reviewed and information is provided
about the risks, advantages, and disadvantages of the surgery.
A normal recovery process may be observed after ear aesthetic surgery. For the first few days after surgery, a bandage
or wrap is applied to the area to reduce the risk of infection and swelling in the area. There may be pain or discomfort
in the area, and patients typically use pain relievers.
During the recovery process, the head and neck should be kept in a high position. The patient may need to stay
hospitalized for a few days after surgery. If there are any stitches, they will be removed a few days later, and the
full recovery time is typically between two weeks and one month. After complete recovery, patients' ears are seen to
look more aesthetic and more symmetrical.
